There is a beautiful song called "Und wenn ein Lied" by Xavier Naidoo which I love. I really want to know what he is talking about but when I have tried to put it through translation software it doesn't translate properly.

Can anyone give me a near as dammit translation. I know it won't rhyme but I really want to hear what he is going on about.

could you help me with this Poem?

I wrote it a while ago when that plane was torn apart by Rio, Brazil and I am revising it today. any help is great:

Seat-Back-Tray-Table Monologue

He sat in his window seat,
Mr. Elpis strapped into place.
Though it was quite the feat to fly,
He was not excited.
Feeling the fuselage
He mustered up the courage to fall asleep.

A dream came to him as he drifted back
Below he was in the airport again,
Reliving the long lines and longer faces
He saw all around him.
They all knew where they were going
(To the sky!)
But they were fated to the fuselage.
But still they boarded.

Mr. Elpis awoke to turbulence,
He burped a mucus bubble and wrote, slowly
“I was shown the sky and told to breathe its beauty,
But I can barely breathe this air,
I can see the sky but only through this round window,
And for what I see I do not care.
I experience the sky but only through my squinted eye.
I see a cloud here and there,
But I am confined to this little window.
Sitting here, air-conditioned
I listen for a glimpse of the sky’s sorrow but nothing comes
Because I cannot hear anything over my own engines.

Then, Mr. Elpis heard the loudest crash he would ever know,
And his flight was gone in a flash.
Air France Flight 447 ripped apart,
And Mr. Elpis passed on at last.

Three days later, a notebook was found floating, barely alive
On one of the last pages, and one of the only still only damp,
A message began, “I was shown the sky…”

In-depth Critique: Legend of Zelda Fan-fiction?

I have been practicing my writing in the form of fan-fiction. I have nearly completed a quasi-novel-length story centered around the game, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

I know it is difficult to find a fellow fan and a good editor/in-depth reviewer in the same package, but I will try my luck here.

I have posted the formatted Prologue and first three chapters below. Please let me know bout the detail, the dialogue, the flow, anything and everything. I want this torn apart, the turn-offs shown plainly to my face. I have been trying to understand what is wrong with it, but so far, it seems to be format rather than content. I still have my questions though.

Prologue

In the Land of Hyrule, there is war.

Twilit shadow cascades across the northern lands upon steeds of darkness. Once thought only to be mere shadows against the Light, the mounted figures lower their lances in the evening’s mist. Ornate armour shields their milk white bodies, shrouded underneath dark cloaks. Vivid cyan glyphs trace the contours of both flesh and iron. Their eyes beneath uniform helms burn brightly against the night’s canopy. Innocence watched in bleak terror as the thunderous sides of war drew ever nigh upon one another.

They are the night. Black hooves dash against cold Hyrulean earth, carrying the weight of both steed and shelled rider. Lance and spear and axe and blade are gripped under tightly enchanted gauntlets.

Indeed, they are the night.

Twilit Knights of the Realm, pure and free, ride against the black foe now unfamiliar. Nearly half a kilometer away, charged the offensive brood. Dark-swirled muscle beneath cursed black flesh, their fingers long and powerful. Tendrils, from behind cold stone masks lash about like the whips of slavers. Only, these creatures that carried the crimson symbols of the Usurper King were not the drivers, but the ones in bondage. Cursed, feral, and potently hazardous. The Twilit Knights knew well of their foes, and for each beast wrested in slay, the deeper the wounds of heartbreak snaked. Their growls and screams lay etched in the minds of the brave few who dared challenge the Darkness.

There were fewer of them now than before, the Knights came to realize. To heed the call of their forsaken Queen, they rode to these pure lands. Still, the screams of the many, so blinded by Darkness drew near.

A young man of Twilight, clad in the most ornate of armours, baring a uniquely plumed helm and boasting both vivid red eyes and broad trim beard, rode before his company. A blackened cape lapped in the passing winds from his broad plated shoulders. The mark of the Twili race emblazoned a pure white squarely at its centre. The Captain of the Twilit company bore no shield, nor spear, but a single short blade crafted from the depths of his people’s will alone. Out of thin Hyrulean air, the blades curvature came into focus and solidified. The Captain’s grip was strong as he pointed his short sword’s razor tip toward the approaching legions of his former brothers.

Brothers they were no more. Cries of anger, terror, bloodlust, and hatred emerged from opposing ranks of Twili and Beast alike. Finally, they became one: a cacophony of steel, claw and shadow.

So many masked beasts rose against the mounted surge. Blades fell and the creatures dissolved, but many more took their respective places. The Twili and their mounts cut a simple swath through the disjointed lines of howling Messengers. For the entire day of every day in the long week, the charges began as such. The Captain broke the mask of his seventh Beast in the charge when his anticipation of his earlier prediction came to being. The mighty shaft of a long spear flew from the hoard of cursed ones. The blackened steel tip passed through the officer’s decorative plume and found concussive residence within the plated chest of the Knight at his immediate flank. The unfortunate soldier gasped for his last breath and passed away before his body met the littered ground.

There is was. A creature standing eleven feet tall, rippled with muscle and agony stomped closer toward the centre of the Twilit charge. More importantly, stomping toward him, the Captain. The cursed Chieftain itself was controlled by the same Darkness that was awash within the former comrades that were being cut down all around him. The cycle had repeated once more. To each skirmish, there was a Dark Lord that controls the fate of all within its ranks. Removing any leader of any side would result in a breakdown of moral and
Hm. It appears that I cannot even fit the entire prologue in there. Rats.
Well, the link still stands, though I am disappointed. Ah well, bandwidth is bandwidth, I guess.

Good foreign rock music for the American teenager?

The question says it all. Anything you might recommend for me will be appreciated! Overall, I'm pretty uneducated of whats out there, and I feel I could be missing out on the good stuff. I don't mind if the songs are in languages other than English. If you could list what language the band sings in, that'd be great. And whatever favorite songs you have.

Past Life?

I have always been into martial arts and movies with Bruce Lee, Jackie chan and Jet Li in them. I have always loved ninjas too and samurai, I always wondered why and I feel like Im going to do something great one day?
On night I had a dream I was Japanese and at some sort of temple and we were attacked I used these wickit moves against some guys invading I remember saving my "friends?" lives???
The next day a Physic told me in a past life I was born in Japan in 1025 and was a monk?

Could I really been a monk and was that dream maybe something that actualy happend to me in a past life?

why did i dream of this and why was i so mean?

i had a dream yesterday where i was with my brothers and we were moving into a house (the house is the one that i live in in real life, and we talked about how we knew the people who lived there before us or something).. anyway, we made a friend in the neighborhood after going to a restaurant. then this strange chubby kid with a hairy foot growing on his arm came up to us and tried to be friends.. he was so weird! we got annoyed with him and we werent mean, but quite rude. then he runs off, and a few hours or so later we see people dressed in dark colors going on a path holding a large wooden box. we followed and ended up in a redish room - the kid's funeral. what happened and why did i dream that i was so rude to him?? HELP!

Need help with WinRAR?

I have a large WinRAR archive (50 segments) that I'm trying to reassemble. When I double-click on any of the archive segments, I get an error saying "the document is either in unknown format or is damaged."

The segments have sequential file extensions (r01, r02, etc.) When I view the segments in Windows Explorer, I notice that all files up to .r29 show as files of type "WinRAR archive." However, beginning with segment 30, the file extension ".r30" shows as file type "r30" rather than a "WinRAR" archive. Same goes for all of the later segments.

It's as if Windows XP doesn't recognize that .r30, .r31, etc. are WinRAR achive files, and I'd bet that's the cause of the inability to reassemble and unpack the archive.

Is there some way using RegEdit or otherwise to "tell" Windows XP to associate the file extension ".r30" with WinRAR? Remember, I'm going to have to do this with a score of different file type extensions (up to r73), so a process that involves multiple steps and has to be repeated 40 times is going to be a real hassle.
